My adolescence took place within the context of a strict Mennonite community and was further complicated by a family history of stigmatized and concealed mental illness. My own struggles with depression and anxiety, along with leaving the faith traditions of my family, during adolescence have continued to affect me well into adulthood. With the trip / performance on the Rhine, the artists explored the theme of “communication” in a closed and segregated environment, such as that of a trip organised on a boat: from this limited context, marked by regular rhythms and by a reduction at the minimum terms of any influence from the outside world, the participants’ behaviour, their interactions, in short, the communication processes emerge.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0592/2593/1985/files/viaggio-sul-reno-settembre-1974-8462787.jpg?v=1773753263
fine-pena-mai
Fine Pena Mai

First edition of Fine Pena Mai by Veronica Barbato.
