The book draws upon a trove of 450 high contrast vintage prints. Dead pan front and back black-and-white street portraits reproduced alongside their inverted negative counterparts. Some of the pictures were published in the vibrant Japanese magazine “Hanashi-no-Tokushu” in 1971, which featured many emerging Japanese artists of the period including Tadanori Yokoo, Shuji Terayama, Shuntaro Tanikawa, and Akira Uno. Text in Japanese and English.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0592/2593/1985/files/cover-long-hair-inverted-satomi-nihongi.heic?v=1774435322
