Maruru is a collection of photographs by the Japanese photographer Lyu Hanabusa. The word ‘Maruru’ means ‘thank you’. This book presents a collection of luscious portraits, most of them nude, of women from Tahiti (the Polynesian island).
The portraits appear in colour and also in black-and-white and are made against the most incredible background, the beautiful landscapes of the pacific. They have a joyful and sensual nature.
As well as the portraits, Hanabusa creates a full depiction of the area, capturing the beauty of the water, the shores, the vegetation and the way people interact with it.
