Nick Waplington

Nick Waplington (born 1965) is a British artist and photographer. He studied art at the Royal College of Art in London. From 1984, he would regularly visit his grandfather on the Broxtowe Estate in Aspley, Nottingham. Here, he began to take photos of his surroundings. Friends and neighbours of his family became his subject matter of choice.

His work is in solo exhibitions at Tate Britain and The Photographers’ Gallery in London, and also at Museum of Art, Philadelphia, USA. As well as at the National Museum of Photography, Film & TV in Bradford, UK; also in group exhibitions at Venice Biennale, Venice, Italy and Brooklyn Museum, New York City. In 1993 he was awarded an Infinity Award by the International Center of Photography.
