Statement from Christopher Anderson on the back of print “Eiffel Tower seen from the Pompidou Center. Paris, France. 2020.”
“When I chose this image, I thought of the idea of ‘turning point’ as referring to Paris, where I have recently moved with my family. This move was a defining moment in our lives that would shape the years to come. But as I look at this imagenow. through the filter of quarantine, I can only think about how the virus reshaped our existence. This feels like a turning point after which we will forever be changed, in ways we could never have imagined.”
Christopher Anderson is known for his emotionally charged, artfully drawn images that explore themes of truth and subjectivity. He is one of today’s most influential photographers. His origins began in war reporting and later transformed into something more intimate. His work blends the worlds of commercial, art and fashion work, but always with a foundation in documentary.
