John Heartfield

John Heartfield (born Helmut Herzfeld, 1891–1968) was a pioneering German Dadaist artist and political satirist best known for inventing modern photomontage as a weapon against Nazism and fascism. Using scissors and glue, he created stark, satirical images in the Arbeiter-Illustrierte Zeitung (AIZ) magazine to expose Nazi hypocrisy, making him a major target on the Gestapo's most wanted list
