Yasuhiro Ishimoto

Yasuhiro Ishimoto (1921–2012) was a Japanese-American photographer celebrated for his distinctive visual style that combined Eastern and Western sensibilities, often described as “visual bilingualism” by critics like Minor White.

He is particularly known for his modernist architectural photography, including his iconic images of the Katsura Imperial Villa in Kyoto, where he explored lines, planes, and textures to create a dialogue between traditional Japanese architecture and Western modernist design.
