About
Duelos y Quebrantos - loosely translated as Grief and Sorrow - is the name of a traditional dish of Castilla la mancha - a central Spanish region-. Contains, bacon, chorizo, black pudding and eggs. Historically, it was offered to those recently converted to Christianity. This meal symbolized the break with their ancient religion. Miguel de Cervantes refers to this dish at the beginning of the book Don Quijote de La Mancha.
A dry, immeasurably flat land. Inhabited by an aging society, a society conditioned and determined by the persistence of values and traditions that transcend the passage of time, surviving in the dualities and contradictions of everyday life.
Taking into account the complexity that prevails in human relations, and the many factors that converge to generate a vision of the social and moral universe of this Spanish region, I seek to inquire into those values and traditions that reflect both the vices and the virtues that characterize the monotonous reality of the people of this territory.
