About
With two nuclear power stations rising from a shingle headland of seventy-two square kilometres, the remote, windswept landscape of Dungeness is a place of strange contrasts and juxtapositions of scale. Working on a Photoworks commission, British artist Nigel Green spent a year photographing in and around the power stations of Dungeness and now this illustrated book brings together his extraordinary and ambiguous body of work.
In the book Green's work at Dungeness is explored in an essay by Photoworks's Director David Chandler, while The Guardian's Architecture and Design Editor, Jonathan Glancey, contributes to a personal 'Guide to Dungeness' in which he dwells on the history and uniqueness of this 'natural dead end', 'brooding at the very edge of the map of England'.
