Limelight, which Helen Gee opened in 1954 on Sheridan Square at 91 Seventh Avenue South in the Village, was then one of the very few places in New York where you could see photographs intelligently selected and exhibited. The other notable place was at the Museum of Modern Art. At Limelight there was an atmosphere of relaxed intimacy and of seeing pictures beautifully.

This is an exhibition catalogue for a show that ran October 26 through December 8, 2001. Includes images from Robert Frank, Rudolph Burckhardt, Louis Stettner, Minor White, Joseph Breitenbach, Lisette Model, David Vestal, Edouard Boubat, Arnold Newman, Wynn Bullock, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, and numerous others. This catalogue was subject to a threat of a lawsuit by Robert Frank and as a result most copies have blank labels affixed over the four images by him. This copy is one of the few that escaped that fate.
