About
This landmark photo-book by British documentary photographer Paul Graham was Commissioned for his Fellowship exhibition at the National Museum of Photography, Film and Television. the book contains exactly 16 large-format colour plates reflecting the psychological weight and political tension of The Troubles in Northern Ireland.
Known for pioneering colour photography in British documentary, Graham shifted focus from the overt street combat and explosions typically captured by photojournalists in the 1970s and 1980s. Instead, In Umbra Res uses subtle imagery to document the pervasive, everyday presence of conflict.
