About Shaped by the West from Dino's website

So, this body of work is made between 2015 and 2019 on solo road trips around the American West. Thus, it is rooted in the westernization of my home country Slovenia and the resulting lack of national identification, which significantly impacted me growing up. Shaped by the West is a personal and artistic exploration of Americana's emblematic symbols from my youth in opposition to my present identity. The book's prevailing narrative is centred around a nostalgic vision of the American dream contrasted with my process of applying for an artist visa. The body of work has been created while travelling through Arizona, California, New Mexico, Utah, and Nevada.

About Dino

Dino Kuznik is a New York based photographer, originally from Slovenia, Europe. He uses photography as a medium to immortalize aesthetically unique scenes, which emphasize composition and colour. Also, one of the key driving factors behind his personal work is solitude, state of mind - on only attainable after total immersion within the environment he works in.
