Arthur Tress' Skate Park brings together a series of photographs that examine skateboarding as both performance and spatial experience. Rather than treating the skateboarder as the sole subject, Tress considers the relationship between the body and the sculptural forms of bowls, half-pipes and skate parks, using their curves and voids as integral elements of each composition.

Working in carefully observed sequences as well as single images, the photographs move between moments of speed, stillness and interaction. Playful exchanges between skaters sit alongside quieter, more intimate observations, creating a sense of presence without spectacle. Throughout the book, the architecture of the skate park carries as much visual weight as the figures moving through it. The result is a body of work in which space, movement and form are held in careful balance, revealing Tress' distinctive approach to photographing the built environment and the people who inhabit it.
