Nan Goldin

Nan Goldin Headshot Nan Goldin (born 1953.) is an American photographer whose diaristic work initially came to fame with her landmark book The Ballad of Sexual Dependency (1986) which shows her first-person account of her experience in the post-Stonewall gay subculture which her family, friends, and lovers throughout the 1980s.

Despite being mostly known for The Ballad, Goldin is also the author of many other monographs including; Tokyo Love (1994), A Double Life (1994) and The Beautiful Smile (2008). Alongside making many books Goldin has exhibited internationally over her years as an artist and her work is held in many permanent collections including the Tate’s collection.
