About Perfect Day

Perfect Day is a project that looks to reveal the physical and motional resilience of the human species. In this resilience, according to Salvans, lies our great tragedy: unlike other species, we always withstand a bit more. This way, the photographer explores the trails left by mass tourism, analysing the spaces that were and aren't anymore. Or rather, are something else. Then, he pays attention to the way people try to re appropriate said spaces and enjoy them. Also, Salvans keeps a distanced viewpoint in order to prioritise the scene and the environment over the subjects. As a result, the images in Perfect Day are loaded with a surreal sense of banality, a funny sight that leaves an after taste of nostalgia and a bitter-sweet feeling. The images in this project revolve around leisure in a world where some pieces are missing. We watch people sun bathing in patches of sand, splashing in pools or resting on deck chairs. The background, a polluting factory spitting big clouds of smoke up in the sky. Also, we watch

Txema Salvans (1971) is a Spanish photographer, based in Barcelona. He work largely focuses on documenting his country and its people, observing their life styles and connections to the places they inhabit.
