Artist Statement
"The process of creating photos is a way for me to lean into my imagination - to bring things in the world together, to see what meaning comes out of that process.
I enjoy working with the things that I love: the spiritual, nature, animals, intimacies; quiet and tender moments. The sensual always seems to appear in my photographs - whether through the quality of light, a human gesture or the creatures and plants.
The images in this book were taken in North Wales, where I grew up and where, for me, a lot of archetypal powers intersect. Juxtaposed with my self-portraiture and still life, these images form an important chapter in my life and work up until now."

Lena Aires turns the mundane into poetry. The quietness in her work is its strength, revealing emotion in subtle gestures.
Her photographs convey closeness and separation simultaneously. You feel drawn in, yet aware of the space between subject and viewer.
Moments captured are ephemeral — a glance, a gesture, a fragment of time made eternal in her frame.
Aires’ imagery lingers in the mind. The delicate balance of light and shadow gives voice to what is often unsaid.
Really nicely produced and great images
