Some reading wear to and tearring to extremities of dust jacket, now in a removable protective sleeve

Comes with a leaflet for Strand's 1976 exhibition in the National Portrait Gallery in London

There is a previous owner's inscription to inside of cover - the book was previously owned by photographer Nick Hedges  

Some very minor wear to extremities of boards

First edition and first printing. Hardcover. Features text by James Aldridge. A collection of Strand's black and white photographs taken in Egypt. 

Strand, with Aldridge's help, has tried to extract the quintessence from Egypt. They both set out to make modern Egypt comprehensible. This suggests something a little more far-reaching than the simple picture-and-text of a decorative book. They are mainly concerned with the underlying evidence of what Egypt is, and what it is trying to become.
