First UK edition of The Tin Drum by Günter Grass. First impression. Medium format hardback in very good condition. There is a significant bump to the top corner that affects a portion of the pages and there is some discolouration and shelf wear to the dust jacket, otherwise the spine and pages are all clean and intact. The jacket has no loss, now in removable protective sleeve.

The Tin Drum is a 1959 novel by Günter Grass, the first book of his Danzig Trilogy. It was adapted into a 1979 film, which won both the 1979 Palme d'Or and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1980. To "beat a tin drum" means to create a disturbance in order to bring attention to a cause.
