About
In the 19th and 20th centuries, Charleroi and Liège flourished due to their coal mines and steel works. Their strategic location and access to natural resources made them central to the Industrial Revolution in Belgium. With the decline of heavy industry, the cities faced similar struggles: economic hardship, social unrest and urban decay.
Over the course of nearly two decades, Edge, Grotesk, Sabotage and Tempo repeatedly visited and documented the fading remains of these once grand dames of industry, leaving their traces along the way.
Archives Tirages is a collection of images from these abandoned, now largely vanished industrial landscapes. 180 pages of black-and-white photographs and paintings pulled from the writers collective archives.
