About Before and After Science
Originally released in December 1977, ‘ Before and After Science’ continued to break new ground with sonic experimentation and bold forays into ambient music. Musical contributors include Phil Collins and Percy Jones from Brand X, Jaki Liebezeit from Can, Moebius & Roedelius from Cluster / Harmonia and Robert Wyatt. It features 10 songs including the single ‘Kings Lead Hat’ , which is generally accepted to be Brian’s homage to then-emerging Talking Heads. Before and After Science is the fifth studio album by British musician Brian Eno. Produced by Eno and Rhett Davies, it was originally released by Polydor Records in the United Kingdom and by U.S. Island soon after. Over one hundred tracks were written with only ten making the album's final cut. The musical styles of the album range from energetic and jagged to languid and pastoral. Eno's album fit in perfectly with the punk/new wave scene of the time, featuring such thrilling art rock songs as No One Receiving; Backwater; King's Lead Hat, and Here He Comes .
