About Bill Brandt

Bill Brandt's eponymous monograph by Thames & Hudson contains about 200 photographs from throughout Brandt’s career. Therefore, we can consider this to be an excellent way to analyse and understand the artist's trajectory and life, seeing how his work evolved. This monograph was curated by a philosopher and two professors. This definitely reflects on the way the book takes on Brandt's lifetime of work, merging his professional life with his personal life to become a highly introspective collection.

About the photographer

Brandt was a British photographer and photojournalist. Born in Germany but moved to England, where he became known for his images of British society for such magazine as Lilliput and Picture Post. Bill Brandt's career spanned nearly half a century. Further, he mastered several genres of photography, starting with photojournalism but later going into distorted nudes, portraits of famous artists and landscapes. He is widely considered to be one of the most important British photographers of the 20th century.
