About Europeans
Europeans is a catalog of the eighth exhibition from the "Czech Photography" series organised by the Czech Center in New York and the local Leica Gallery. The publication contains reproductions of 32 photographs by Jindřich Marco, Jindřich Štreit and Vladimír Birgus. The photographs depict different cities in Europe and the different people who inhabit them. The photographers managed to capture the variety of culture and character from one place to another, while also pointing out the connecting thread between countries and people, which is belonging to Europe.About the authors
Jindrich Marco was an artist born in 1921 who passed away in 2000. He was largely inspired by the 1950s. Abstract Expressionism, a form of painting that studied notions of spirituality and the sublime. He is best known for his World War II photographs, which, rather than depicting killing fields, captured the ordinary citizens of war-torn cities. Vladimir Birgus is a Czech curator, photographer, teacher and founder of the Institute of Creative Photography in the Czech Republic. Jindřich Štreit is a Czech photographer and pedagogue known for his documentary photography. He concentrates on documenting the rural life and people of Czech villages. He is considered one of the most important exponents of Czech documentary photography.Related links
