About Gardening at Night
Gardening at Night is Cig Harvey's second monograph. Without a doubt, it's a celebration of the themes that Harvey loves to explore in her work: Life, nature, time, home.
In fact, this beautiful book has an intense dream-like nature. It takes the viewer into a whimsical, primal reality that feels like a lucid dream. Further, Gardening at Night is about the connection of a person and nature. It's evocative and metaphorical.
Additionally, there is a layer of playfulness between dark and light, between shadows and luminosity that threads cycles across the narrative. Every photograph and piece of text offers the viewer an almost tangible experience. The result is a very intimate and personal collection of imagery that takes us to a different world; one that we can find interwoven with the every-day one, if only we look carefully.
