About
Porti di Mare is a landmark 1990 photography project and book by Italian architectural and urban landscape photographer Gabriele Basilico. Basilico takes black-and-white topographical photographs capturing European coastal towns, harbors, industrial infrastructure, and port activities starting around 1982. Porti di Mare is cited by Martin Parr and Gerry Badger in The Photobook: A History, Volume II as one of the most important and influential Italian photobooks of the 20th century. The book also features critical essays by architect Aldo Rossi and photography curator Roberta Valtorta.
