About
70s Tokyo Long Hair Inverted” collects Satomi Nihongi's series of portraits documenting hairstyle trends that began to appear on the streets of Tokyo in the 1970’s. The book draws upon a trove of 450 high contrast vintage prints. Dead pan front and back black-and-white street portraits reproduced alongside their inverted negative counterparts. Some of the pictures were published in the vibrant Japanese magazine “Hanashi-no-Tokushu” in 1971, which featured many emerging Japanese artists of the period including Tadanori Yokoo, Shuji Terayama, Shuntaro Tanikawa, and Akira Uno.
